Purdue finished with a seven-over 295 on Friday, but it was enough to win the championship at one-over par.

The four best scores from a team count to the school's score for the round.

Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (71), Numa Gulyanamitta (74), Thea Hoffmeister (75) and Paula Reto (75) combined for the seven-over total on Friday at the Country Club of Landfall. Laura Gonzalez had a four-over 76 that didn't count for the team.

The victory was Purdue's first national championship.

Southern California shot a one-over 289 for second place.

The University of Alabama finished third at plus-five, followed by Arizona State, which came in at nine-over par. Arizona was fifth at 14-over-par 291.

Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State posted a four-under 68 on Friday to win the individual title. She completed the championship at 12-under 276 and won by four shots over third-round leader Jennifer Johnson of Arizona State, who had a one-over 73 in the final round.

LeBlanc and Auburn's Cydney Clanton, who carded a six-under 66 on Friday, shared third place at minus-seven.

Megan McChrystal of LSU fired an eight-under 64 in the final round and tied for fifth place with Jennifer Song of Southern Cal. Song shot a one-over 73 on Friday.

Pittsburgh earned their passage to the big game by beating their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 23-14 in yesterday's AFC Championship Game. The Cardinals, by far the playoff team with the longest odds to reach Super Bowl XLIII, did so yesterday with a 32-25 upset of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. Arizona charged out of the gates and built a 24-6 halftime lead that had the Eagles venerable defense reeling. Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald did most of the damage, connecting on three first half touchdowns.

Arizona, however, could not sustain their momentum and the Eagles took a 25-24 with 10:45 left to play in the fourth. The Cardinals, with the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance hanging in the balance, mounted a fourteen play, 72 yard touchdown drive that consumed 7:52 off the clock. Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.
